The Next Big Thing Blog Hop March 14, 2013

Welcome to the Blog Hop!

What is a blog hop? Basically, it’s a way that readers can discover new authors, because with bookstores closing and publishers not promoting new authors as much, we need to find a way to introduce readers to authors the may not see in their local bookstore.

Here you have the chance to find many new authors. You’ll find information about me, my blog, and my book. But that’s not all! Also see links below to other authors you might like to check out.

I’d like to thank fellow author A. Wrighton for tagging me to participate. Here are links to A. Wrighton’s blog, facebook, and the sire for the Dragonics & Runics Series.

In this particular hop, I and my fellow authors, in their respective blogs, have answered 10 questions where you get to learn about our current work in progress as well as some insights into our process, from characters and inspiration to plotting and cover decisions. I hope you enjoy it.

Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts and questions. Here is my Next Big Thing!

  1. What is the working title of your book?  Unraveling the Aquatically Positive.

  2. Where did the idea come from for the book? I love aquatic life. It sparks a poetic side in me.

  3. What genre does your book come under? Silly Positive Poetry

  4. Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition? I don’t have a movie in mind for this book, but all the creatures in the book are named after some characters. Mr.Beaker, Albert Einstein, Puff the Magic Dragon, Scarlet O’Hara, Patrick (from Sponge Bob), the list goes on.

  5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? This book is a silly view on silver linings and peace.

  6. Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency? It will be self-published more then likely.

  7. How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? This book is still in progress.

  8. What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? Not sure an exact book this is like. The idea is very childish and lighthearted though.

  9. Who or what inspired you to write this book? The Fish Tank room we have progressively created.

  10. What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? I am really working on some poems that bring a smile to your faces and your hearts.

Below you will find authors who I follow. Check them out, they may be joining me on this fun adventure.

Happy Writing and Reading!!

There are many theories whispered about in the mid of night as to why our piece of Nefus floats. We have dwelled in suspense between earth and the blanket of stars since time began. Protected by clouds we remain unseen. Luck has been on our side thus far. Secrecy has been the Zahav Council’s highest priority. No one on Nefus is to know we live among them.

The Zahav teach that we are hand selected by Hakadosh. But who is this Hakadosh with no face, just name. Are we living on blind faith? Why do “we” the chosen people live in a shroud of mystery? Why do we trust when we live without knowledge? Why do none of us know who we really are,
except the Zahav?

My mother tries to quiet me on the topic. It is apparently inappropriate to talk about at dinner and a social shame during parties.

What I desire is nothing but the truth.

Her screened in porch housed a large easel and over abundance in potted foliage.
A stool rests in front of the naked easel
next to it is a wall of bookshelves,
some housing paint and jars of paint-colored water with numerous brushes popping out. Beside the water jars are books,
Books and more BOOKS.
Books galore,
all scattered about the floor,
on the the shanty little desk,
one open on the stool.
Across from the easel,
adjacent to the desk
sits an old creaky rocking chair with an explosion of yarn and knitting needles.
Beyond the mosquito netting,
standing proud,
banana trees flowering before the next harvest’s yield.
The screen door crashed open and just as suddenly clattering closed.
A swooping gust of wind was to blame.
It smelled of hectic rain,
blooming flowers
and change.

Our society is monopolized by pixels and plastic screens. The power of stepping outside our doors and just standing in awe at the grand, unpredictable beauty has been diminished. It is not Nature’s loss but our own self-made detriment. But here my friends is a poem I wrote to express my feelings on this matter.

T.V. Addict

It’s all the same.
the story lines are constantly repeated only with new faces,
erasing the previous ones.
But we still sit, tethered.
We spend a drawn out period of time with no creative thoughts sown or grown.
But as the sound of the box wrrs off we wonder why dreams don’t come true,
why circumstances don’t work out.
Our eyes found a prize that only leaves us with chronic dissatisfaction.
Freedom lays beyond the pixels.
A genuine adventures just passed the screen.
The beauty of the world is not found in the plugged in T.V.
