The Next Big Thing Blog Hop March 14, 2013

Welcome to the Blog Hop!

What is a blog hop? Basically, it’s a way that readers can discover new authors, because with bookstores closing and publishers not promoting new authors as much, we need to find a way to introduce readers to authors the may not see in their local bookstore.

Here you have the chance to find many new authors. You’ll find information about me, my blog, and my book. But that’s not all! Also see links below to other authors you might like to check out.

I’d like to thank fellow author A. Wrighton for tagging me to participate. Here are links to A. Wrighton’s blog, facebook, and the sire for the Dragonics & Runics Series.

In this particular hop, I and my fellow authors, in their respective blogs, have answered 10 questions where you get to learn about our current work in progress as well as some insights into our process, from characters and inspiration to plotting and cover decisions. I hope you enjoy it.

Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts and questions. Here is my Next Big Thing!

  1. What is the working title of your book?  Unraveling the Aquatically Positive.

  2. Where did the idea come from for the book? I love aquatic life. It sparks a poetic side in me.

  3. What genre does your book come under? Silly Positive Poetry

  4. Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition? I don’t have a movie in mind for this book, but all the creatures in the book are named after some characters. Mr.Beaker, Albert Einstein, Puff the Magic Dragon, Scarlet O’Hara, Patrick (from Sponge Bob), the list goes on.

  5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? This book is a silly view on silver linings and peace.

  6. Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency? It will be self-published more then likely.

  7. How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? This book is still in progress.

  8. What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? Not sure an exact book this is like. The idea is very childish and lighthearted though.

  9. Who or what inspired you to write this book? The Fish Tank room we have progressively created.

  10. What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? I am really working on some poems that bring a smile to your faces and your hearts.

Below you will find authors who I follow. Check them out, they may be joining me on this fun adventure.

Happy Writing and Reading!!

The Beginning of a Blurb March 13, 2013

There are many theories whispered about in the mid of night as to why our piece of Nefus floats. We have dwelled in suspense between earth and the blanket of stars since time began. Protected by clouds we remain unseen. Luck has been on our side thus far. Secrecy has been the Zahav Council’s highest priority. No one on Nefus is to know we live among them.

The Zahav teach that we are hand selected by Hakadosh. But who is this Hakadosh with no face, just name. Are we living on blind faith? Why do “we” the chosen people live in a shroud of mystery? Why do we trust when we live without knowledge? Why do none of us know who we really are,
except the Zahav?

My mother tries to quiet me on the topic. It is apparently inappropriate to talk about at dinner and a social shame during parties.

What I desire is nothing but the truth.

Elephant Ears Jungle March 5, 2013

Shadowy beneath the enormous leaves. Elephant ears trail shade, where over time the viney plant crawled up the fat old trunk of a towering tropical tree. the front garden must have taken years to grow the un-patterned and wild green beauty that results in this enamored and mysterious spot.
An air of secrecy bound by a breath of magic looms within the short, once-black gate. The gates peeling paint speaks of use.
But the empty yard says you are not welcome.
Only the curious of souls would dare be tempted to cross this front yard’s threshold. I wonder how the mail person feels. The shivering unknown feeling is what makes it my favorite house on the block.
Captivatingly quaint.
Delightfully peculiar.
How I yearn to tread in my feet among the overgrown plant life and dried mountain of leaves. The thought of crunching about in fallen yard litter brings a nostalgic swell in my chest and my soul delightfully screams “Fall!”
My insides swoon as nature daydreams serenade me.
An instantaneous joy floods my heart.
My thoughts dance.

The Seemahn on my soles tingled with warmth as a sudden but silent something happens. Quick like lightening without a flash he was there, in the colorful pile of leaves. I have never witnessed someone materialize from thin air! The debate over throwing caution to the wind was won when I saw he wasn’t moving. Still as a corpse. Dead? Alive? I had to know. I couldn’t leave him in Ms. D ‘s yard. She is not a fan of strangers, especially in her belovedly wild yard. Took long enough for her to warm up to me.

I failed to wade through the debri quietly. Spying his chest rising and falling steadily, he lay as though he were transported in his sleep. Gigantic, he took over a nice size spot of Ms. D’s yard.

Zophia’s Porch March 1, 2013

Her screened in porch housed a large easel and over abundance in potted foliage.
A stool rests in front of the naked easel
next to it is a wall of bookshelves,
some housing paint and jars of paint-colored water with numerous brushes popping out. Beside the water jars are books,
Books and more BOOKS.
Books galore,
all scattered about the floor,
on the the shanty little desk,
one open on the stool.
Across from the easel,
adjacent to the desk
sits an old creaky rocking chair with an explosion of yarn and knitting needles.
Beyond the mosquito netting,
standing proud,
banana trees flowering before the next harvest’s yield.
The screen door crashed open and just as suddenly clattering closed.
A swooping gust of wind was to blame.
It smelled of hectic rain,
blooming flowers
and change.

The Dawn of a New Era : Consciousness February 23, 2013

This is a project I have started for what might be a short story or what might flourish into a whole book. But this spilled from imagination to my notebook yesterday. Let me know what you think!

Consciousness

There are many theories as to why our piece of earth floats. We have dwelled in suspense between earth and the blanket of stars since time began. Protected by clouds we remain unseen. With the rest of the world learning to fly their enormous bulky steel birds, we are more vulnerable to discovery than ever before. Luck has been on our side thus far. Secrecy has been the High Council’s goal. No one on earth is to know we live among them. High Council believes we are hand selected by the gods. But who are these gods with no faces, no names. Are we living on blind faith? Why do “we” the chosen people live in the shroud of mystery? Why do we trust when we live without knowledge? Why do none of us know who we really are,
except the High Council?

My mother tries to quiet me on the topic. It is apparently inappropriate to talk about at dinner and a social shame during parties.

What I desire, now quietly is nothing but the truth.

A Page Turner Thus Far February 20, 2013

heiress

I love finally opening a book that is in depth, fatten with descriptions and illustrious details.  Susan May Warren draws you in with the story of two sisters. This book allows you both viewpoints, which I love. With these two young women, “now of age” you walk through a time period when women were treated as an accessory, a business trade and baby makers. Love is just an impossible, unattainable day dream set aside for little girls bed time stories.  You get to live two experiences of young sisters, high in society, who take very different paths. Both always working with what they have to attain what they want but only to turn the corner realizing they both want the same thing. The advantageous life has proven futile, riddled with emptiness. They, like most of us, want true, pure, untainted love with the one. I am halfway through this novel but I sit on edge waiting to see what each new page reveals. This is so far a great dramatic and romantic novel with all sorts of mystery woven into every chapter.

A page turner thus far!
